{"id":4322,"date":"2014-03-08T12:00:42","date_gmt":"2014-03-08T12:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/?page_id=4322"},"modified":"2016-02-27T13:35:31","modified_gmt":"2016-02-27T13:35:31","slug":"highend-stockholm-2014","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/?page_id=4322","title":{"rendered":"HighEnd Stockholm 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I visited the Stockholm HighEnd Fair that took place in Stockholm 8-9th of February 2014.<\/p>\n<p>This is a reoccurring event that always gathers some interesting designers, distributors and people from many well-known HigEnd manufacturers and Hifi shops.<\/p>\n<p>However, this year\u2019s show was smaller than previous years and in my opinion not as interesting as usual.<\/p>\n<p>I tried to focus mainly on the loudspeakers and it&#8217;s hard to get enough time to seriously evaluate the different loudspeaker designs in a crowded show, but you can often get a general impression of its performance and get a glimpse of some beautiful creations. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Still, here\u2019s a short report and some photos from the show:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4328\" src=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_1.jpg 298w, https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_1-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_2.jpg 298w, https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_2-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I begin with the Swiss made floorstander <a href=\"http:\/\/www.piega.ch\/en\/products\/coax\/coax-90-2\">Coax 90.2<\/a> loudspeaker from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.piega.ch\/en\/\">PIEGA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a very expensive aluminium cabinet loudspeaker with an unusual co-axial driver configuration with a ribbon mid-range paired with a ribbon tweeter mounted co-axial.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom end has dual 7\u201d ScanSpeak Revelator woofers.<\/p>\n<p>It had a spacious sound with nice bass extension, but if there was something to complain about, the woofers had some issues to integrate with the \u201cfast\u201d sounding ribbons.<\/p>\n<p>Overall they delivered nice performance and they were one of the better sounding loudspeakers in the show.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4332\" src=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"595\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_3.jpg 448w, https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_3-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_4.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_4.jpg 298w, https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_4-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_5.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4334\" src=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_5.jpg 298w, https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_5-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Affordable Hifi equipment from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goldnote.it\/\">Gold Note<\/a> To left the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goldnote.it\/wordpress\/a-6-xo\/\">A-6 XO<\/a> floor-stand 2.5-way loudspeaker. The both use custom OEM versions of SEAS 7\u201d co-axial drivers for mid and tweeter. The Gradient 5.0 uses a passive radiator on the back side of the enclosure.<\/p>\n<p>I like co-axial drivers and loudspeakers, but I didn\u2019t really like the sound of these loudspeakers. The sounded a bit raw and edgy, but I must admit, it\u2019s not fair to judge them only by listening on them at a Hifi show like this.<\/p>\n<p>I did like the sound a lot more from the odd looking open baffle design of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gradient.fi\/Gradient\/Helsinki_1.5.html\">Helsinki 1.5.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_10.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4343\" src=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_10.jpg 298w, https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_10-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The large 4-way loudspeaker <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wharfedale.co.uk\/product.php?pid=2\">Airedale Heritage<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wharfedale.co.uk\/\">Wharfedale<\/a>. In my opinion it has a very low WAF factor, but it sounded powerful in the small room it was placed in. I really don\u2019t know what his business case was and I felt sorry for him.<\/p>\n<p>How did it sound? Take a guess\u2026. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_13.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4348\" src=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_13.jpg 448w, https:\/\/www.audioexcite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/HES2014_13-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manger-msw.com\/\">Manger MSSp1<\/a>. Unfortunately these where only on visual display. I listened to the micro sized stand-mount loudspeaker <a href=\"http:\/\/monolit-speakers.com\/products\/a1-1\/\">Monolite a1-1<\/a> and it sounded nice even though we listened at a low sound level.<\/p>\n<p>Basically this seems to be some Visaton kits wrapped in concrete enclosures. Not a speaker to my liking.
